Brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily

Brushing your teeth is the very first thing to do to prevent getting a bad breath because foul smell is from the dirt and bacteria living inside your mouth like in your tongue, gums, and teeth or in-between teeth. There are some who would have another round using baking soda to lower or reduce the acidity content in their mouth and made it difficult for bacteria to grow.

So, you better cut down eating foods that are acidic and high in fructose, instead eat foods that increases the flow of saliva like orange vegetables as well as the dark ones; whole grains just like the brown rice; fish, beans, seeds, or nuts; and fruits of course.

  • Raw vegetables and fruits. Yogurts that are probiotics have good bacteria in it. According to studies, those good bacteria help in lowering the level of sulfite in the mouth. The sulfite is responsible for causing bad breath. However, make sure that the yogurt you have chosen is sugar free.

  • Cherries

Based on many studies, cherries are great for getting rid of bad smell. It helps in removing methyl mercaptan gases in the mouth that is one of the reasons of bad breath.

  • Green Tea

Green tea has a catechin, an antioxidant. This antioxidant fights the bacteria inside the mouth that is also a reason of getting a bad breath.

  • Melons and Citrus

Melons as well as the citrus fruits are good for you but bad for bacteria that causing bad breath. So, if you want to have fresher breath and save yourself from shame, you better include this on your daily diet.

  • Ginger

Ginger is known for treating upset stomach, but aside from that it also treats or neutralizes foul smell of the mouth. You can press the ginger and then put this in your lemon juice with warm water that will serve as your simple mouth rinse .


This one trick is actually the very simple among the rest, but most likely undone due to some reasons like you don’t feel like drinking much since you are not used to it. Well, this is true. There are people who can’t even drink a glass of water the whole day. This is why doctors would always advise to drink plenty to avoid numbers of diseases. If there is not enough water in the body, no water to moisturize and produce saliva, hence, the bad odor caused by bacteria will be developed.

Make sure that you are hydrated especially before and after exercising, wherein rapid breathing can lead to dry mouth. Moreover, dry mouth can also happen while you are sleeping. So, make sure to brush and drink water in the morning.
